A Caring Family Member
In a time when there is little reverence for the image of God in the human person, we are summoned to care for human life with an ultimate respect. (This Moment of Promise)
The sacramental life marks important stages of development in which we celebrate together with family, friends, and the community. The Sacramental Life Ideas Chart explains my understanding of the sacraments and what I've learned through readings. Most importantly, we are to celebrate these moments together with family. As I help my students understand the sacraments and sacramentality they will appreciate their importance in reuniting family and friends. It is important that students "value and honour the important role of the family in society" (CGE6c). Celebrating the sacraments is one way in which students can value and honour their family as well as "value and nurture opportunities for family prayer" (CGE6d). Through the sacraments, we recognize the presence of God in us and therefore should "relate to family members in a loving, compassionate and respectful manner" (CGE6a) just as Jesus intended.
